Posted February 3, 2013. On the subject of timing belt kits, mine is due a kit (It's on 59k) and the Haynes manual recommends to change at 60k. I've just purchased a Gates' timing belt kit from Eurocarparts. Usually kits consist of the belt, and at least two tensioners. This only has the belt, bolts and one tensioner.
This guide is most accurate for the 2002-2004 Ford Focus SVT Zetec interference motor with VCT, however it can be adapted for use with all 1998-2004 Zetec motors.

I've had it done twice on a focus (tdci and 1.8, both mk1) - each time costing £150. The kit consists of a rubber/plastic belt and the tensioner - a small metal unit.
I need to change my aux belt (fan belt) and tensioner, car is an 02 Focus 1.8 TDCi estate. I've bought the tensioner and had a look at where its mounted and the power steering pump is mounted on top of the tensioner bracket.
